- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk 240 ml
- 1/4 cup brown sugar 56 grams
- 3 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter 15 grams / ½ ounce
- maple syrup for serving
Optional Garnishes

Crack the eggs into a mixing bowl. Add the milk, brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, and salt. Whisk until smooth and fully combined.
Pour the custard into a shallow dish. Dip each slice of sourdough into the mixture, letting it soak for about 20 seconds on each side.
Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Melt the butter. Add the soaked bread slices and cook for 2–3 minutes per side, until golden brown and crisp.
Serve warm with maple syrup and your favorite garnishes like berries or powdered sugar.
